I received a copy of this from the author through the Goodreads Giveaway Program. This is the second book written by Mr. Tuck and the first of his I've read.I don't often read poetry but this was so beautifully composed that I was immediately drawn into the book and finished it in one sitting. Then I returned to several of my favorites and reread each of the essays again. The author/poet has the ability to draw you into his thoughts, his pain and reach down, take your hand, and hold it as you relive times when you're able to connect his past and your own.
There are paragraphs that are so honest:
'I believe hurt like this makes some of us wait for permission to really live our lives. It stops us from exploring who we are and who we want to become. I spent so much energy just containing my pain each day that I would often forget there was life outside of it.'
'...I truly believe our souls are restless, and curious, and when they recognize a chance at magic they can't help but follow that path. No matter how dangerous it might be...'
'...Buried underneath the hurt, underneath the learned self-hate, is a shine so great it can stop people in their tracks. Hiding behind everything you've tried to change about yourself is a power so dynamic it can remind us all. of our humanity...'

Glimpse Volume 1 WD Tuck Books Reviews
This is beautiful, inspirational poetry at its finest full of heart, substance and rich imagery to ponder. The writing style and content are a perfect meld, delightfully surprising in their seamlessness.
Divided into three sections, it focuses first on how deeply one's freedom of perspective impacts life; second, how a romance which began in NYC during Hurricane Sandy has deepened into an abiding love story and third, on an exploration of the nature of beauty and peoples' innate value,
irrespective of social status, ethnicity, nationality and gender.
Encouragement and hope are constant themes, as is an authenticity that invites one to turns its pages again and again, like cherishing the wisdom and companionship of a beloved friend.
Loved this and will have to get more copies to share with my loved ones!
This lovely book of poetry is divided into 3 parts. The first part acknowledged the pain we feel, identified with it, but then offered hope and warmed our hearts. The second part spoke of the most romantic love we have ever felt and captured our dreams of how deeply we could be loved. The final section emphasized the value of every one of us from every angle, reinforcing the themes of the rest of the book. A must-have for every bedside table.
